MS Math - Mr. Goffner

Hello and welcome to 8th Grade Math. My name is Mr. Goffner, and I am very passionate about helping my students to achieve their goals in math, including achieving the highest possible score on the state exam and achieving the highest possible score on the SHSAT so that they may get into the high school that they dream of. Myself being a graduate of Bronx High School of Science, I know what it takes for success on the entry exam. I received a B.S. from The George Washington University and an M.S.Ed. from CUNY-Queens College. I am currently in my second year of teaching at OWNCS and had four years of teaching experience prior to joining the OWNCS family. I am having an excellent time and will stop at nothing to make a positive impact on the school and on the community.

Units for the 8th Grade Mathematics curriculum include: Exponents and Scientific Notation, Graphs and Functions, Multi-step Equations, Graphing Lines, Data and Predictions, Systems of Linear Equations, Geometric Transformations, Sum of Interior Angles, and Measurement and Geometry.

Together we can make this a wonderful school year.p>

My top 3 tips for success in math are: 1) Keep reviewing previous topics. Everything builds on a previous topic, so make sure the previous topics are mastered. 2) Practice, practice, practice. Like anything else in life, the more time you put into it, the more you get out of it. 3) Believe in... Read More...
