  Our OWN students lovingly collected cash and assembled care packages for families in need in Puerto Rico, which is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Maria. Hazel and Nikola, our student representatives, hand delivered the items at the Museo Del Barrio to the Mayor of Monrovis, Puerto Rico.   Special thanks to Ms. Guridis for spearheading the relief efforts!

For the fourth straight year, OWN faced The Charter School for Educational Excellence in the Bronx/Queens regional championship game. Emotions were running high, but our student athletes remained disciplined and composed. They executed on both offense and defense.  Final score OWN 18 - CSEE 12. This our seventh Bronx/Queens regional championship in ten seasons. Our players put on a magnificent performance!

November started off with a string of victories for our Girls Volleyball and our Coed Flag Football teams, and both are in great shape for the upcoming playoffs. The Lady Falcons played their final home games of the 2018 regular season as they hosted Our Savior Lutheran and Growing Up Green Charter School. OWN 7th Grader Lorena R. placed third in the ITF Taekwondo USA Nationals US Qualifier and Team USA Selections at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.  Congratulations Lorena on your excellent performance!

OWNCS Falcons continue to fly high as they faced Health and Science Charter School on Saturday. The team focused on the word complacent this week as they continue to work on moving from good to great. They took a huge step closer by getting their first shut out of the season.
